Magazine Scene

As many of my friends know, I can be a bit of a magazine addict. So, I am thrilled to get a weekly email from Amazon sharing their magazine "deal of the week". In the last few weeks I've been able to get one year subscriptions to Southern Living and InStyle for $5. This week the deal is Sports Illustrated Kids (1-year) for only $5. This would make a great holiday gift and will definitely be a "stocking stuffer" for Big Brother Prep this year. You can even designate your purchase as a gift and send a gift message to the recipient. Not only are the weekly special deals a great bargain, many of Amazon's regular subscription prices are, too. Check these out:

Coastal Living (1-year) for $10, but with a $5 bonus it's really like $5

Health (1-year) for only $9.95

Swooning for Swoozie's

I was thrilled to find that Swoozie's one of my all-time favorite shops was offering 30% off at both their online store and retail locations. I was even more tickled when I discovered that they carry many of the new Lilly Pulitzer stationery and gift items. At 30% off, I figured I could stock up on a few for Christmas gifts. Swoozie’s sells everything from stationery to monogrammed gifts to Tervis tumblers ~ all of which you can buy for 30% off. Besides the Lilly items I bought, I also purchased several of these adorable monogrammed totes for my nieces’ Christmas gifts. The totes come in several colors and the monogramming is free. The totes are usually a very reasonable $12.95, but now with the 30% discount they come to only a little over $9 each. That’s a steal. So, stop on by Swoozie's and enter CELEBRATE30 at checkout to get your discount.

A Penny Saved...

To put it simply, our family has had to tighten the budget belt a little, well a lot, as we plan for a remodel of our home. I wasn't thrilled thinking I may have to give up some of my favorite preppy pastimes in order to get my hardwood floors. Was it not possible to still enjoy some preppy fun while pinching pennies? Couldn't I still wear my Lilly while clipping coupons? Was it hypocritcal to live a thrifty life while shopping at J. Crew? Is "frugal prep" an oxymoron? I've set out to try and live our preppy life on a budget. Join me as I share my preppy frugal finds and please share yours.
